One of the most distinctive of all the Japanese silver brands has to be Bloody Mary.  It has a beautiful aesthetic, backed up with some serious sterling silver weight to stop it from being a bit too girly.  I remember I once had one of my rings re-sized in the very cool Great Frog on Carnaby Street, the head designer took one look at it and asked me how on earth they had managed to do the minute detail on the ring – trust me, when someone with that level of experience is impressed, you know you are in the presence of greatness.  When I got the chance I did ask the designer at Bloody Mary how the detail is achieved and apparently it is something of a secret – for the record my money is on some form of laser engraving.

Now I hear that there is something of a Summer Festival going on over at Bloody Mary, which lasts till the end of August – so if you want something, you are going to have to move fairly fast:

I personally feel that the silver elements of the festival will make their way in some form to become part of a permanant collection but I would advise caution on the leather items.  You see Bloody Mary only carries a tiny amount of leather work and apart a handful of items, 99 percent is made to order – or in the case of this festival only made to order for 1 month.  So grab your chance when you can, my BM wallet has been in service for 3 years and still looks amazing AND has never been made again for anyone else.

My stand out items from the festival have to be the sterling silver cuff watches.  Very discrete, heavy and available with restrained diamond paving for those set to invest.

Elsewhere they have imported some stunning Italian Saddle Leather that has been heavily dyed to achieve the metallic blue above that is really befitting of the “mermaid” theme, as is the scale-esque tooling on wallet in the top left.

The custom made belts are the very first that Bloody Mary have produced and are available in 42 different varieties and all hand made to order.  Only problem is that is going to be the only belt you ever need, so for those of us like me who have accumulated a ton of them over the years, you are going to find it hard to ever wear a cheap white metal buckle after you have upgraded to the silver.  But I am over that, and I will never look back.

So definitely check out the whole line-up here and join me in looking forward to their new A/W collection – Bloody Mary have never dissapointed me yet.

The Luminescence Bracelet is one of the sickest things I’ve ever seen. Would love to get it for my girlfriend … if it wasn’t over $1000.

I know, very foxy. And yes it is very expensive, but the important thing to note is that the work that Bloody Mary puts out is in a class of its own. It may lack that great hand-worked feel of biker silver but what it is is precise and out-right beautiful. The time spent to achieve the flawless finish is what you are paying for, and in my opinion it is worth it. Plus their Harajuku shop is one of the coolest places on this planet!

Definitely not saying the price isn’t justified; just a lot more than I’m willing to pay, haha
