I’ve always loved a good crafty session, but for all my enthusiasm things don’t often go to plan! I won’t go in to my tales of failed DIY projects, but flipping through DECOremake magazine has re-ignited the hand-made flame in my heart.

I love their simple ideas for sprucing up what would other be plain items – adding iron-on patches, splatting paint on to shoes, and designing unique t-shirts.

Japan is a great source of craft inspiration as well as materials. And for the very best craft supplies there’s only one place to go… Tokyu Hands!

My picks from their vast array of stock include:

Sweets-themes are hugely popular, and you can make your own swiss roll phone strap with this little kit for only 840yen (£6/$9) the bowl is not included, according to the image!

Fancy picking up something a bit more cultural? How about this traditional-style mini kite kit – add glitter and go over the top for a bit of a twist on a classic style (3780 yen/£27/$40)

In addition to these handy kits, Tokyu Hands also sells a huge variety of bits: key-rings, ring backs, earring hooks, belt buckles, paper, fabric, paint… even a proper screen printing set! You can leave me there all day, thanks!
