When it comes to fresh talent worth watching in the Japanese fashion scene, it goes not get much more exciting than Dummyhead Depaysemen. Straight out of Vantan, racking up awards and producing accesible work that is perfect fit for the mood of the moment – this is Tokyo fashion at its freshest. The concept of their latest collection, like their previous work, is to create genderless, uni-sex fashion by neutralising traditional men’s wear. On top of that they have nailed the dark brooding gothic feel of the moment with looks that have tinges of the occult held together with heavy rubber and leather detailing. Fantastic stuff:

Now if like me you have just sat through that thinking – I want it all – then you will probably be disappointed to hear that as a very new brand they still don’t have a regular stockist (that I am aware of), but rest assured that they will, and when they do I will be happy to report it.
If I had to pigeon-hole the style I would probably describe it as a grown up form of the Salon-Kei look that has spread out of the streets of Harajuku these last couple of years. But regardless of all that, it feels really fresh and I have no doubts that they are going to go far this A/W and both of us here at Tokyo Telephone will be more than happy to be ambassadors for this look as soon as we get the chance.
