The title ‘Alternative Gothic’ may bring to mind architecture, Sisters of Mercy or striped tights depending on your generation, but this exhibition in Ginza might offer you something more than teenage gloom.
Words like decadence, fantasy and of course grotesque appear on the tip of the veiwer’s tongue, yet the creatures lurking just seen out of the corner of the eye question us as to who the real ‘freaks’ are – us, or them?
This exhibition comes highly recommended for those who appreciate the darker side of life, and want to contrast the endless air-conditioned worlds of Ginza’s department stores with something that’s not for the faint of heart.
