Proving that there’s more to spring and summer fashion in Japan than wide-leg trousers and peasant blouses; get an eyeful of JSG. Always ones to follow their own trends, pop-rock gyaru JSG have produced a collection that’s full of animal prints, colour, rock themes and above all… fun. This is a brand that appeals to fans of Coco Lulu‘s brightly coloured signature look, but with a far edgier style, much like TutuHa.
Although I’m not a fan of the face stickers, I do really like the main model’s make-up: dark smokey eyeshadow, whopping huge false eyelashes both top and bottom and violet contact lenses. Surprisingly, I’m quite fond of the eye make-up with dark red and nude lips – the red belies more of the rock influence, while the nude clearly centres the look in a more traditionally gyaru context. (This paragraph may not make much sense, mostly because I was on the vino last night, and a bacon sandwich just isn’t cutting it like it used to. Ah, the ravages of time. )
I wish I had enough hair for double/bunny buns. Love it.
Read on for less tongues and more colour…
Tousled hair & a crop top – stripes & a studded collar.
A bit kiddie-goth, no?
Rock jewellery, knitted slogan jumper, dark eye make-up & nude lips. Oh, and a top hat.
Amazing leopard drape… thing, made very JSG with the exposed zip.
Is it wrong that I’m posting this just because I find it a bit hilarious? It looks like something a barmaid would have worn in the 1970s. I’d pair it with vast amounts of chunky gold jewellery, and a huge smile.
This top is available in a few colours, but I think the red would look most striking under a sheer shirt – a great way to add a pop of colour. I might have to grab one or two of these…
I’ve been living in my leather shorts recently, and this frilly pair with metal eyelet details are a really fun alternative to the polka dot & check pairs that have been a spring staple for sweeter brands.
I love the almost coral shade of pink of this rather punky destroyed top. There’s nothing more fun than sitting down with an old t-shirt and a pair of scissors…
I’m pretty sure the bones on this cape-like hooded top spell out ‘ROCK’, which is y’know, the kind of music I’m sure bones would enjoy.
A classic JSG look, that’s also a TutuHa staple: cute rock imagery, and detailed inner, with a short and fluffy net skirt. I’d love to see this outfit with some huge plastic jewellery and the double bun hair style of the first catalogue shot.
Ha, I just love a slogan! JSG do, as do pop fashion favourites House of Holland & Jeremy Scott. (I’m currently sleeping in an ancient FRANKIE SAYS RELAX t-shirt. I’m nothing if not classy.)
And finally: because everyone needs a pink jumpsuit with rude words on it in their wardrobe. I am so looking forward to seeing someone, anyone, wear this. I just don’t have the guts. Do you?
