Pow! Blam! Kaboom! I can’t help but think of superheros and cartoon characters (and Ikea!) whenever I see anything from Japanese street wear fashion favourite Mercibeaucoup. Over-size shapes, bold colours and even bolder prints – Mercibeaucoup has the market cornered on all things fun and fashionable.

There’s a charming child-like quality to a lot Mercibeaucoup’s designs – remember when fashion wasn’t about looking ‘cool’, but dressing up and playing with clothes, patterns and colours and yes, makeup too. Hugely backcombed hair and stick on jewels may not be everyone’s cup of tea, green or otherwise, but in this case I think they really add to this collection photoshoot – and that’s the point here. Fashion is fun, clothes are great, and photo shoots like this emphasise this aspect of Mercibeaucoup. Although at at times looking at these photos I feel like should ingest a vast amount of sugar to fully appreciate the style, I’m almost motivated to jump around and throw some shapes myself…

More sharks!

Fantastic trousers!

Love that pink shading!

More great shapes!

Bright blue knitted drop-crotch trousers? Yes, that’s right. But let’s not overlook the brilliant coat with puffy neck!

And the award for most amazing jacket goes to…

This is practically restrained!

Clashing patterns!

Yes, the all-in-one is actually a huge fish. Ruddy fabulous.

I can honestly say that I’ve never before wanted fish mittens, but I kind of do now.

And, saving the best for last:

Ms. Fish Monster and…

This dude. (It’s kind of like looking in a mirror.)

I think there were almost 200 photos from this lookbook, so I do apologise if I’ve missed a few corkers from Mercibeaucoup, but you can see the whole collection here.

After reviewing this post, as well as the aforementioned superheros, I’m also reminded of crazy illustrations and (how could I have missed this before?!) Dr Seuss of course! It must be the hair…

    @ Flora

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience – hope it wasn’t too bad…

Your best bet is to email them through this form:

You can leave most of it blank (apart from the green bits) and just fill in the bit at the bottom. Just make sure you specify the brand in the brand section and if you have an item code include that as well.

    Hope it goes well,
