As I’ve mentioned before, Samuel & I are lucky enough to live by the sea and when it’s phenomenally hot like it is today, I can hear the ocean calling to me!
The reality doesn’t often live up to the dream; mutant seagulls, wasps, pebbles and far too many people spoil the atmosphere a bit! However, my idealised image of the English sea-side usually involves stripes, and with that in mind, I went on search for a bit of deck-chair chic in Japanese fashion:
109’s summer sales are in full swing – I wish I was there to pick up a few tons of bargains! The secret to good sale shopping is to always pick up something you would have bought full price anyway, not that so-so pair of shorts just because they’re really cheap.
Maxi-dresses are so on-trend, and I think this maxi/crop stop set from Gimlet gives you a great range of options; coordinate the black lace top with other items, and when it gets a bit colder try shortening the dress with a belt, adding ankle boots and a little fitted jacket. The white lace & striped top from Glad News is on sale, and would look lovely with this seasons loose denim shirts. I had to add the other top from Glad News too – pretty pirates ahoy!
Lolita fashion is known for its themed prints almost as much as the distinctive aesthetic, so I had to include a few marine-themed dresses! I love the white dress from Angelic Pretty, I wore a black one (from the same collection, I think!) yesterday. Metamorphose have done a few nautical items, the darker colourway of the dress on the left makes it a must-have for gothic lolitas in summer! Lastly, the Metamorphose dress on the right is one of my all-time favourites; I love the pale blue stripes and anchor & shell design – pair with heart-shaped sunglasses and white pumps, and get ready to hit the beach!
As much as I love the heat, I can’t wait to see this autumn/winter’s up-coming trends! What are you looking forward to?
