Style, or substance? Sometimes you get overwhelmed by styling, and when it actually comes down to it that’s all there is. A shadow, a line, a suggestion of something that isn’t quite there. I almost feel this way about Sise‘s autumn winter 2011 collection, but I have to say that the clothes themselves are actually growing on me…

Maybe it’s because I’ve been feeling a little more minimalist myself of late (I’m wearing hardly any make-up these days – a quick slick of mascara & I’m good to go – not sure sure what on earth has come over me), but I really like the pared-down Sise aesthetic. Despite dandyism and it’s all it’s peacock finery, male fashion does often lean towards the simplistic especially in the mainstream. You just can’t beat a beautiful suit, and all the host-style rhinestones in the world couldn’t detract from a poor cut. I honestly didn’t expect to like this collection as much as I do; what a happy surprise! Of course, of course, of course I have to mention the styling: it’s ridiculously amazing. You just have to see it in all it’s French horn-head (brass instruments were never my strongpoint) and lightsaber freaky glory. Brilliant, count me in Sise!

Follow the ghostly goat-headed boy, why don’t you?

Deathstar orchestra? I THINK SO.

Lovely baseball jacket; a touch of vintage Americana.

Well of course you’re not going to get very far playing tennis with a frying pan. And an apple. Lovely vest combo, though!

Someone’s got the horn! (I’m really sorry, I couldn’t help myself. Sorry, sorry.) It does rather detract from the shirt, which is a work of art in itself.

I don’t know why, but this shot really gives me the heebie-jeebies. It’s a great look the headless mannequin is going for though, there’s just something about black and white. I love it.

I’m assuming that’s a carrot. And a tiny rabbit, I think. This is a look that’s street wear influenced, and street wear bound.

So, in conclusion: gorgeous paneling details, classic white shirts, and one of the weirdest dreams I’ve had in a long while. Thanks Sise, I think I’m ready for the loud balloon now….

Japanese brands have the worst lookbooks. You can barely ever see the clothes in them. 🙁

Yeah, I tend to rely on catwalk shows to see the clothes and lookbooks more for mood & themes.

    It’s hilariously styled though! 😉
