I though about titling this post ‘The September Issue’, as you really can’t have enough Vogue references. I’ve been living vicariously through fashion week tweets, and have been Wintour-spotting! Haha.
It’s been another busy month here at Tokyo Telephone towers! Phew! Here’s what we’ve been up to:
Maps: I’m so excited about this new feature, I love it! Take a look at out fab interactive Tokyo shopping map – click around on the markers to discover the locations of your favourite shops, and the best bit is that it’ll be updated with every new post! The wonders of technology…
Brands: We’ve started compiling a list of all the brands we’ve covered thus far here at the brand directory page; it’s a great way to find new brands or just skip directly to what you’re after.
Private Number: Samuel and I created the private number tag to let you, our readers, a little further into our lives! So far, there’s a sneak peak inside Telephone tower itself as well as some outfit shots of Samuel – keep an eye out for more coming very soon!
Vintage a go-go: At the beginning of the month I adapted from Used Jelly magazine some guides to vintage shops in Osaka, Daikanyama & Nakameguro, and Harajuku & Shibuya. Finding a vintage treasure has never been so easy!
Matsuri Fun: We happily attended London’s Japan Matsuri for 2010 a couple of weeks ago; one of the best days out we’ve had for a while! Take a look at our coverage of the matsuri (with tons of photos!) here. Don’t forget to check our gallery page for the latest photos from Tokyo Telephone.
Tattoo Season: Seeing as I’m nearly finished with my leg tattoo (Japanese style ghost & cats), what better way to celebrate our love of body art with a few posts about tattoos? Samuel profiled two of our favourite Japanese artists, Shige and Genko, and just last weekend we were lucky enough to see both at work at the London Tattoo Convention – see the full article here, including photos of traditional hand-tapped tattoos! In addition to this, we take you through Shige’s tattooing process in this article. We’ll also be attending the King of Tattoo Convention in Daikanyama next month, so look out for more tattoo updates soon!
Ask the Operator: I’d like to introduce a new idea – ask us a question! If you’re wondering how Samuel & I met, or the best place to buy socks in Shinjuku, then just leave us a comment!
Links and other sites: We’re always on the look out for interesting and fabulous blogs & sites to add to our phone book – leave us a comment or drop us a line at hello @ tokyotelephone.com if you’d like to be added to our ever-growing list. Content from Tokyo Telephone is also available on flickr, livejournal and twitter too! We’re also featured on Glam UK‘s fashion channel – a great way to see what’s going on on the rest of the network!
If you thought that was a busy month, then just wait until October! As well as dropping in to Hyper Japan festival (say hello if you see us around!), we’re off to Tokyo the following week – looks like another jam-packed month for Tokyo Telephone, we hope you’ll continue reading our adventures!
