Tokyo Bopper is a name familiar to anyone who’s taken a gander at Japanese street fashion photos; invariably the round-toed footwear belonging to the Harajuku fashionista will be from the infamous shoe retailer.
Looking like the love-child of 1990s-eqsue Spice Girls platform trainers (I had a denim pair when I was about 10 year old, thankyouverymuch) and a cartoon version of Vivienne Westwood’s stunning rocking horse shoes (beloved by lolitas worldwide), any shoe from Tokyo Bopper is bound to get some attention!
My favourites have to be the lattice-like pair in the middle row on the left – black suede, buckles and a platform, yum. Of course I had to post the leopard pair… so next season!
Tokyo Bopper carries two lines of shoe designs; Belly Button and Unbilical. Both ranges are made in Japan, so the great quality matches the higher price tag – most shoes are around the Y30,000 mark. Comparisons to orthopaedic shoes aside, by choosing a pair of shoes from Tokyo Bopper you’re guaranteed quality long-lasting footwear that’s bound to be the focus of any outfit and attract a few comments too.
