Subheading: It’s always a good day when you can quote David Bowie.
Updating my winter wardrobe is always something of a chore – with a huge array of coats & jackets to choose from, will it be a leather biker jacket, statement coat, or on-trend aviator? For many years I used to knock about in an ancient black velvet coat that was a few sizes too big by anyone’s standards! I think I was channelling some kind of Wednesday Addams/Edgar Allen Poe-esque faded heroine chic, but I just ended up looking like a reject extra from Oliver!
Ah, how times have (almost) changed. I’m still digging repeats of the Addams Family films and reading Poe when I settle down with a cup of tea, but these days I’m after a coat that not only fits & will see me though the colder months, but above all looks great! Huge thanks to Emoda for ticking all the boxes…
Love love LOVE the styling in the above image – I’d expect that look maybe from high-fashion fans Candy, but from a more mainstream brand like Emoda it’s great to see them taking risks with their inspirational images.
I love the swinging sixties feel of the photo below – it’s the white quilted boots that give such a retro edge to the long-length sheepskin aviator coat; a great take on this season’s must-have!
I’ve been snapping up quite a few draped items here ad there recently (blame my new-found addiction to menswear!), and the above waterfall coat would fit comfortably in. While I’d be pairing it with loads of layers and some chunky boots, I really adore the bodycon items underneath – feminine and fierce! Such a great versatile piece.
Below is an image that really caught my eye: back to the 1960s again with a hot pink miniskirt & thigh-high boots! I was always a bit scared of the girls at school who wore puffa jackets (ah, the ’90s!) – they smoked and had tiny backpacks and didn’t like me because I was a goth – but I’ve got to say, this is one awesome jacket! The moons & stars in the background make me think of spacesuits and David Bowie – I’d happily explore the universe in this jacket, while listening to Dave’s greatest of course! Altogether: there’s a star man waiting in the sky…
