Nestled like a tiny doll house in the leafy back-streets of Harajuku is Yellow96Cafe, a favourite haunt of the Tokyo Telephone operators. It’s a laid-back bohemian place with mismatched furniture, pink walls & old comics and instantly feels like home. If you feel like a tea-time treat after a hard day’s shopping in La Foret & down Cat Street, or need a place where you can enjoy a beer while you admire the much-famed Harajuku street fashion of the native Tokyo-ites, then Yellow96Cafe is a true gem!

Many times I’ve been dragging myself along winding Harajuku roads in search of that most fabled thing; a decent cup of tea, and Yellow96Cafe has never let me down to date. They deserve medals, praise, treasure… tea and cake is my kind of life saver.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy.

I almost feel like I’ve let out a Tokyo Telephone secret! There’s always a dilemma when you reveal a favourite place with a wider audience, but when you’re parched and the idea of yet another generic coffee chain turns your stomach, I hope you’ll thank me for sharing Yellow96Cafe with you!

  1. Cool post. Love the photos. Looks like a nice place to take a break when wandering around there 🙂

This is pretty much what I want my apartment to look like.

It’s a really great place to chill out! I’m not a huge fan of Starbucks/other coffee chains, so it’s a perfect independent alternative 😉

    Gorgeous, isn’t it?
There’s quite a few places in our home town that look like this too; kind of hard to achieve in our apartment as it’s so new!
